Brook's August 2009

My first Calendar. I have been inspired by the flowers of the month and this month it is the Gladiola. The Gladiola has many meanings for those born in the month of August, they are graceful, strong of character and may even be capable of piercing the heart of another with their beauty...

Deb's June 2009

Here the winter approaches, the air grows chill and the leaves have all climbed down from the trees to dance on the ground with the wind. After misty rain and a week of gray, small mushrooms and peculiar fungi poke through the leaf-drifts amongst the tree roots.

Deb's Calendar - January

Painting for my January - all things tiny: microbes, diatoms, protists and other mini-beasties..

[ I wanted to capture the idea that all things start small before growing outwards. Dreams for the coming year included :) ]

Shell's Calendar - January

Though 2009 has begun, I've not completed my calendar pics...eek! After a few seconds of panic I realised that I didn't have to have it all finished in one go, I just needed a month at a time. Here's a peek at my cover and month layout. My January pic is still being printed, so I'll share that as soon as it's done. For every month after, I'll take a photo to post as I turn the page over...kind of sharing the surprise at the start of the month!

Soul Knocking Challenge: CALENDAR!!

With 2009 rapidly approaching i thought i'd volunteer a new creative challenge... construct your own CALENDAR!

A friend of mine gives another friend a homemade calendar each year as a christmas present. Last year she made a collage calendar and bound the pages together with old shower-curtain rings. Gorgeous way to mark the time over the year and a fabulous gift! I thought we might get in on the action. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination...use cloth instead of paper, make your calendar on one big sheet of paper, make a tiny purse-size calendar, use different pages for each month, or maybe divide your dates by some other system. There's lots of resources and templates on the net, so it can take as much or as little time as you like :)

i'm giving us 2 and a 1/2 months to construct our calendars, so they're ready to start using in the new year... 1st Jan 2009.

i can't wait to see your creations!!

Deb's calendar - a sneak-peek!

My calendar is in the pipes.. have all my sketches done, hungering to be lavished with colour and brought to life. In the interim, thought i'd share a sneak-peek!
