Food, glorious food!

Have spent some time lately looking for great places to eat when we're in Rome in June....and it's got me fixated on food...so much so that I thought we could create something food related!
Maybe your favourite dish to cook, a sublime meal you've had, food you can't live without, an unusual dining location or a fantastical meal you'd love to create....let your tastebuds do the talking! :)

For Summer's first birthday I made a Willow friendly cake (dairy free) and it was absolutely delish! It was just as good as a cake with butter and milk. It was light and moist. It was my first foray into decorating as I've always just bought a cake for the other kids, but now we have a big beautiful kitchen that just begs to be used! I made little dots with icing and scant drops of colouring the day before and added them to the cake just before we served it. I'm very proud of it, it was a very pretty cake!
If anyone wants the recipe just let me know :)

An Easter treat...mmm! Jamie Oliver's Chocolate Brownies!
In the spirit of Jamie's 'pass it on', give them a try. They're super delish...
250g unsalted butter
200g dark chocolate (look for Green and Blacks 70% cocoa)
150g dried sour cherries
150g blanched hazelnuts
80g cocoa powder
65g plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
350g caster sugar
4 large free-range eggs
zest of 1 orange
250ml creme fraiche
Pre-heat your oven to 180'. Line a 12inch rectangular baking tray with greaseproof paper. In a large bowl over simmering water melt your chocolate and the butter and mix 'til smooth. Stir in the cherries and nuts. In another bowl mix the cocoa powder, flour, sugar, and baking powder. Mix this with the chocolate mixture. Beat the eggs and mix in until you have a silky consistency.
Pour the brownie mix into your tray and bake for about 25 min. You want them to be springy on the outside but gooey in the middle. Allow to cool in the tray then transfer to a large chopping board and cut into chunky squares. For a fantastic dessert serve with a dollop of creme fraiche mixed with the orange zest. Enjoy with friends or family.
