Urban art

A challenge for you lovely + creative cats this week! The topic is open, create whatever you like.

There be only 3 ground-rules i'd like to set:
1) keep it post-card size
2) make a copy, and stick it up somewhere public (bus-stop, lamp-post, blank wall on a busy street...)
3) take a photo of your art in urbania and post

Go wild with your temporary graffiti if you so feel the urge! You could make many copies, enlarge, stick them up anywhere and everywhere, make a series...Whatever you're wild little hearts desire. I'm perpetually inspired by the artists who chose to share a touch of their imagination with the rest of the world, planting seeds of creativity in passersby, or perhaps sharing a thought or a smile..
This week is a tribute to them.

urban art - what mandie wishes she had have come up with!

unfortunately this is one topic i haven't yet got too, but i love this and just had to share it.  shell, its somewhere in london town...

Urban Art - by Shell

Inspired by cut out art and a wonderful quote by George Eliot (1819 - 1880) here's a peek at my urban art experiment. I had much fun creating it and am rather inspired to make time for more (thanks little fox!).
With the weather over here rather unpredictable (snow today..woo hoo!), I've decided to laminate it before finding it an urban home. Here's a close-up sneak peek in the meantime. The final cut out has 'george eliot' credited at the bottom of the pic. I'll post more pics soonest... ^_^

Shell's devine and creative cutouts have inspired me to try my hand at it too. The urban gallery i chose is my uni cafeteria. I loved the colourful 'shadows' cast by the cellophane when held under my lamp, and couldn't resist sharing the fun. Reminded me of the animated images of Josh Pyke's 'Lighthouse' filmclip. Would love to learn how to animate one day.

[I'd imagined yellow and red cellophane when i crafted this piece. Unfortunately, the local craft store was fresh out of yellow! Not quite the desired effect. A touch more abstract than envisaged]
