Still life - by Deb

[Thursday morn and clouds flicker across the sun. Blue sky as as my ceiling and a tree for shade from the warm spring sun. Bought myself a paper, 'The Gaurdian Weekly', my new fave for international politics. Am sitting on lush green grass. An iridescent copper beetle crawls its way across my jeans. Articles read, and with a recent dearth of 'soul knocking' preoccupying my mind, i found my black-pen outlining its way over columns of text, evolving into a still life of my shoulder-bag. Got to love permanent marker for contrast and boldness. Solid black.]

Still life in the park.

Debb, this looks fantastic...it reminds me of a kind of drawing I did in year 10 art class that involved wax - a kind of reversal drawing from memory...the way you've filled in with the solid black and left white space is great. Oh, and love your paper too...you really do think very creatively...

yep, i agree deb, it's incredible and creative and inspiring!! i'd like this on a t-shirt. i very much appreciated hearing the moments this drawing emerged onto the page, and the fact it's on newspaper also makes this moment more concrete. it sounds like a very relaxing way to spend an afternoon.
